Details: During WWII, Belgium had its hands full, so Remington was contracted to manufacture the Auto-5 for Browning from 1940 to around 1947 — In total Remington made around 63k of these American-made variations, the barrel date code (BP) does not exactly jive with the standard Remington codes, that said, given the s/n is in the 27k range, it is likely this shotgun was made between 1942 to 1944 –
Condition: Good to VG; the metalwork retains above 80% finish, showing finish loss on the high points; the woodwork shows scratches, scarring, and bruising – the forend has cracks on each side where the metal plungers are located (it retains the two plungers) – the stock has been modified for a right-hand shooter through the use of a large relief cut and sanding for a lower cheek weld; the bore is bright and shiny with minimal signs of use; all mechanics operate as designed –
