You are considering a vintage Winchester 1897 Pump-Action Shotgun. Chambered in 12-Gauge with a Full choke. Manufactured in 1928; it has all matching serial numbers. It weighs 8 lbs, the overall length is 46.6″ with a 13.75″ length of pull. The barrel measures 27.5″ which means it was cut down and re-beaded at some point. The metalwork retains around 50% of the original bluing, with the majority remaining on the barrel. It shows a dark brown to light gray patina throughout, partially obstructing some markings; otherwise, the remaining markings are legible. The tip of the hammer has been repaired with brass. The woodwork shows a dark patina and age; it has small dings, bruising, and draglines from regular use. The stock and forend each have a crack: a hairline fracture on the front of the forend, and the stock has a 3″ long crack on both sides of the wrist; this crack has stopped but will require proper repair to ensure it does not continue. It has a hard rubber recoil pad which is in rough condition, showing heavy wear including a large section missing from the middle from everyday use. The bore shows some corrosion and pitting toward the middle; the rest of the bore is clear and in decent shape. Overall, this shotgun is in Fair to Good condition; it cycles as designed, and the action locks up tightly; it would make for a great project gun.
