  • Markings/Details: Included with this rifle is a “Troop Tag” which was found underneath the steel buttplate; a troop tag is a plasticized piece of paper containing the personal information of the original Swiss Government user of the rifle — typically the information displayed will include the Soldiers Name, Birth Year, Unit, Place of Residence or Place of Service — This particular example is somewhat difficult to interpret, but it appears the owner was perhaps Telephone Soldier Josef Schmid, born in 1931 (T.F. = Telefon (Telephone) S.d.t. = Soldat (Soldier / Private) – other words on the tag appear to read “Landwirt” (In English; Farmer or person who works the land or who keeps livestock) along with what may be a street name “Willisan…” — Other features of the rifle include a windage adjustable red blade post front sight with protective ears, a “U” notch ladder rear sight with elevation adjustable slide and graduations to 1500 meters, a removable 6rd magazine, cleaning rod, rear sling buckle, front sling swivel attachment, this rifle retains all matching serial number 528301 including its abreviated form on the barrel, barrel band, and tang, the stock and receiver show various Swiss markings and crests, the wood stock is a pistol grip configuration and exhinits beautiful striping –
  • Condition: VG to Excellent; the metalwork shows typical wear on the high points and retains above 75% finish, showing most of the thinning on the receiver, all markings and crisp and legible; the woodwork exhibits typical impression marks, draglines, and scarring from handling and storage; the bore is bright with strong rifling and no visible corrosion; the action and mechanics appear to function properly – However, as with any used firearm, inspection by a competent gunsmith is advised –
