You are considering a vintage Sporterized 308 Winchester Arisaka Type 99. It’s in good shape with light wear from usage, storage, and handling — the metalwork is holding up nicely and has not been refinished. It is a Nagoya Arsenal Type 99 that was manufactured sometime between 1923 and 1945. All of the markings are intact including its Kanji and Mum. It was re-barreled and chambered for 308 Winchester ammunition (7.62x51mm). The bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling and no fouling or pitting. It does not come with front or rear sights and has not been drilled and tapped for a scope. The bolt handle has been turned down but will need finishing. The stock is also not complete and was in the middle of bedding the barrel when the previous owner stopped. The metalwork is fitted nicely, however, and an amateur at this point could put this rifle back together. The trigger has been upgraded as well but will need fitting. The action functions as it should and locks up nice and tight. It comes with its original trigger guard and magazine box.
