You are considering a vintage Pre-War Japanese Arisaka Type 38 6.5x50mmR Bolt-Action Rifle. This rifle is a Series 23 produced at Kokura Arsenal sometime between 1933 and 1940. It’s in very good condition for its age with little to concern yourself with. The light hardwood stock is in good shape with typical wear like dings, pockmarks, and scratches — but no cracks or serious damage. The metalwork, likewise, is in excellent condition and still sports all of its original bluing — it has light high-point wear. The mum, as typical for most bring back Arisaka’s, is scratched off — however, most of the Kanji is still visible. The barrel measures 31.4 inches in length and includes its original front barely corn sight and rear adjustable leaf sight. The bore is bright and shiny with good rifling and minor fouling and pitting — it would twist lead accurately. This rifle includes its cleaning rod and a period-correct bayonet, also from the Kokura arsenal. The action is sound, and everything locks up nice and tight.
