You are considering a vintage Civil War Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber. It does not have its proof marks, or maker marks, but appears to be of the period. It does have a US stamp with 1862 above it. The metal scabbard is in great condition but does have minor scuffing and discoloration. The blade measures 33.25 inches long, while the sheath is 36 inches in length. This would suggest the tip broke off, and then was masterfully repaired. There is no pitting or rust to be found, it also has not been sharpened. The brass counter-guards are in great shape with only a few scuffs and marks. The leather wire-wrapped handle is in good condition with only minor wear. It also includes original period leather straps to attach to a belt.
