You are considering an antique 1860s Minié-Cordier French Cadet Training Rifle. This interesting and rare rifle places the percussion cap 16-inches forward of the hammer to reduce the flash for marksmanship training. It has a 16-inch rifled barrel sized for .50 Caliber projectiles. The metalwork features a light brown patina from age with minor spots of staining or light pitting. The percussion lock mechanism functions well and secures nicely. The woodwork also appears to have been kept in good condition over its life with minor dings and scratches from usage. This rifle is marked with matching “8” serial numbers.
