You are considering a vintage Hopkins & Allen 44 XL Shot Falling-Block Project Shotgun. It’s in good-honest-wear condition with a nice brown rust patina covering most of the metalwork. It does not include any actionable components but has a nice-conditioned receiver and barrel. The barrel measures 24-inches in length and includes a front bead sight — the bore is bright and shiny with some minor fouling and a bit of pitting. The woodwork is in fair shape, with the forearm being nearly perfect while the buttstock leaves something to be desired — it could be repaired in the right hands and features a scant pistol grip. The wood does have a wonderful figure and would look great when it’s finished.
