You are considering an antique French Percussion-Cap Converted Lancer’s Musketoon. This musketoon was converted to the percussion cap system 180 years ago in 1843 at the Mutzig Arsenal garnering it the “T” designation for “Transforme”. It features a 19-inch .66-Caliber barrel. The metalwork shows that it has been cleaned at some point in its life after developing an amount of surface oxidation; minor pitting can be noted along the length of the barrel as not much original finish remains. The percussion lock mechanism functions well and engages nicely. The woodwork also appears to have been maintained in its life however, the appropriate cartouches remain prominently visible. The stock number matches the barrel’s serial number. This musketoon does not come with, and would not have been issued with an attached ramrod.
