French Darne R13 16-Gauge Shotgun | Side-By-Side

French Darne R13 16-Gauge Shotgun | Side-By-Side

You are considering a vintage French Darne R13 16-Gauge Shotgun. These cool side-by-side shotguns come out of France and utilize a unique sliding-breech. This particular shotgun is great condition for its age and both the metalwork and woodwork are holding up very nicely. It’s an R13 model with 3 proof marks stamped underneath the barrel (note: this makes it a grade 3 out of 8) — it is chambered for 16-Gauge 2.75-Inch shotshells. It is capable of handling smokeless powder cartridges. The barrels finish has not been redone and still sports its original bluing — the bores are bright and shiny with no fouling or pitting — it does not have a rib but does include a front bead sight. The wood stock is also in great shape but does have a couple of deep pock marks and gouges and one crack forming on the right-hand side of the knuckle towards the rear of the receiver. The sliding-breech functions wonderfully and locks up tight, the safety functions as it should. The factory engravings look sharp and crisp. The stock is missing its buttplate (note: the plate is included) as it appears it was cut straight and no longer curves the necessary way to attach. The length of pull on this particular shotgun is around 14-inches even.
