This ceremonial sword is an example of the Fourth Model offered by the Carl Julius Krebs company of Solingen, Germany. This 31-Inch blade would be purchased by Officer Candidates approaching their graduation to accompany their dress uniforms in the 1930s and early 40s. The Fourth Model features expensive flourishes such as the Lion’s Head with Red Glass Eyes, a P-Shaped Handguard, and the Fallschirmjäger’s Eagle. Carl Julius Krebs was most known for their daggers and other knives making this dress sword a rarer example of their work!
The hilt presents in Good condition with some minor scratching on the celluloid-covered grip and light spots of brass corrosion, but no excessive wear on the floral patterns and Lion’s Head features. The blade has not been sharpened and looks very nice, with light scratching and minor spots of surface staining. The sheath is in Fair condition with notable scratching and wear on the black paint.
