Argentina M1879 Remington Rolling Block | 43 Spanish

Argentina M1879 Remington Rolling Block | 43 Spanish

You are considering a vintage Argentina M1879 Remington Rolling Block. It’s in excellent shape for its age with typical usage, storage, and handling wear. The woodwork has a few pockmarks, deep scratches, and a minor crack forming toward the upper left-hand side of the buttplate. Otherwise, though, it’s holding up remarkably well. The receiver was tinned as was standard for Argentine Rolling Blocks, and some of that tinning is still visible — the barrel is blued and still sports 95% coverage with minor high point wear and some light strawing. The barrel measures 36-inches in length and includes a front barley corn sight and rear ladder sight, a copy of the Austrian Werndl sight. The bore is surprisingly bright and shiny with very strong rifling and no fouling or pitting — it would twist lead accurately. It is chambered for the 43 Spanish cartridge and was not rechambered for the 11mm Mannlicher. It has the number 32 stamped rear of the trigger guard, most likely indicating an arsenal number. Argentina used these as their standard battle rifles from the late 1860s to the 1890s. It includes its cleaning rod, barrel bands, and buttplate — all of which fit nicely and have their connection hardware.
